ted talk

The speaker shows many different documentary photos that were taken by various famous photographers. Photographers tell the stories through their lens, while the viewers can see the amazing things through the photographers' work. It is impossible for a person to see every moment that is happening in this world, but photography enables us to connect with other's life.

As a fan of national geography for years, I have found many photography work in extremely fascinating because many of them would create resonance with my feelings. Some of the special moments and scenes that the camera captured are the treasure of the beautiful earth, whereas others reflect the issues that exist in some exotic areas. Without those documentary photography, we will never be convinced that the polar bears in Antarctica and the elephants in South Africa are experiencing life danger that are directly caused by human being. Without the bloody images that record the ivory pulled from the elephants' mouths and the meatless bone of the filet sold to the indigent Africans, perhaps we will never be able to know the dark and cruel scenes behind the things we buy from the markets.

The power of documentary photography is telling the stories and reflecting the unknown truth in a silent yet influential way, because as the moments touch our heart, we begin to cherish our lives, to appreciate the beauty of this word, but most importantly, to think of ways to make the world a better place to live.
