david hockney
David Hockney is a very famous British pop artist, who had courage to break the rules of art by exploring the deconstruction of proportion, linear perspectives and color theory. He is obsessed with Cubism, which is a way to combine many scenes to create a new composite view. He loves to paint the California sceneries and tricky spaces.
Hockney was openly gay, who advocate for gay rights. He even use art to demonstrate his voice. He loves to use bright colors like purple, green, yellow to express the sexual freedom.
He is also a photorealist. He believes that painting should rely solely on direct observations.

SURREALISM (Come, and catch me)

I used mirror and put it in the hallway of the photo studio to create this image. I photoshoot my own hand, which is a reflection of the mirror.
When you look at the image at the first glance, you will probably think that the shadow of the hand is behind the door. But as you take a closer look at the image, you will notice some abnormal compositions. For example, the door is placed in the middle of nowhere, and one may wonder where the hand is coming from.
This image is related to the this surrealism painting below. It's the inspiration of my photography work. By using mirror as a part of the composition, it helped altering the natural rule through the reflection and therefore adding a surrealism feel to the work.
When I first looked at this painting, I didn't notice anything bizarre. But later I realised that in reality, the mirror can only reflect the front face of this man.

Black and White

Hi, Mrs Kuntz! I thought the assignment is due this Sunday, so I didn't post.
In this picture, two distinct art forms collide. Although audiences see the graceful movements on the stage, they don't see the tremendous amount of tedious practice behind every movement. The excruciating pain threshold that the ballet dancers have, especially the female dancers, with what they endure through pointe is amazing and incredible. The gentleness of the light and shadow and the breeze that gently stirs the curtain creates a harmonious image with the girl beside the barre, whose body is graceful yet full of strength.

surrealism
surrealism is the searching and interpretation of the unconcious mind and thoughts. It's the opposition of reality, something supernatural.
I really like Erik Johansson's photography work. To me, his photos have many philosophy concepts behind the images, which make me try to think deeper about his intention.
I love his photography, "Arms break, vases don't". People always believe that vases are the representation of fragility, yet Erik Johansson alters the reality by making the hands break into pieces.

ephemeral moment

A subtle sound is to be heard,
As the raindrops splash and hit the ground.
I wish those ephemeral moments in my life could last longer,
Every second to be the first,
Every second to be the last.
Yet what has gone is gone,
So is my love.
I, alone
Standing in the silence
after a drop of rain broke my world into two separate pieces.
Only the leaves remain,
telling the story that has been told.
